Human Centered Design 101

This is a hands-on learning experience that will introduce you to what the buzz is all about with design thinking (also called human centered design). We will learn about how organizations are using human centered design to develop innovative oferings. It will challenge you to get out of your chair and out into the real world to talk to people and test your ideas. You’ll leave this experience equipped with more knowledge about how and when to use design thinking and energized to apply the process to challenges across industries, sectors, and geographies to generate breakthrough ideas.

What you'll learn:

  • overview of businesses using human centered design effectively in the United States and high level understanding of their strategies

  • the human centered design process to create innovative solutions to real world challenges

  • how to gain empathy for your customers

  • practice creative techniques to build rapid prototypes and make your ideas come to life

  • how to prototype with real users and identify promising solutions

Format:

  • We strongly encourage (but don't require) that you form a team of 2-4 people to take the course with. It works best to find friends or coworkers who can meet in person.

  • This course is  one day with two breaks and lunch, in person. Lunch is provided.

  • You'll get access to a private facebook group where you can stay in touch with attendees and ask questions
